Why Etab Apparel Has A Featured Charity T-shirt

Kat Burgers

When I decided to start Etab Apparel I wanted there to be a charitable aspect involved. That was the reason I created the Monthly Featured Charity T-shirt.

Volunteering has been a part of my life since I was a kid. I can remember as a young teenager packing Thanksgiving food boxes for families in need. As a young adult I loved participating in the Angel Tree program where I got to purchase Christmas gifts for children with a parent in prison. One summer I took my week of vacation to volunteer at Royal Family Kids Camp, which gives children in foster care the opportunity to go to summer camp. In a large company I worked for I volunteered for their programs to support the United Way and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. I also started a program in my department to have a volunteer activity for the employees every month, which allowed me to volunteer with food banks, animal shelters, and children’s group homes. In addition, I raised money an walked for AIDSWalk LA for four years.

As an older adult, I wanted to become more involved in a cause. I came across Food on Foot and ended up being a regular volunteer with them for seven years, until I moved away from Los Angeles.

I don’t share all of this to brag or make myself sound good, but instead to let people know the charitable aspect of Etab Apparel truly comes from the heart. It’s not a gimmick or a marketing ploy. I really believe the purpose of life is to have an impact on others. One of my favorite quotes is “A life not lived for others is not a life.” (Mother Teresa). The charity t-shirt program allows me a small opportunity to give back and to share that experience with my customers.
